(Currently only complete through chapters 1-5, although new character notes are available otherwise; more will be coming soon.) Prologue The prologue is split into four parts. Part 1: New Characters: Marth - The main Lord of this game. He doesn't excel in any stat except for luck, and about all that does is prevent criticals.
This level is pretty much rigged, as the combined damage you take is less than Marth's HP. Simply charge forward, attacking anyone that doesn't bounce themselves off Marth. When you get in range of the throne, the nearby Soldier will move onto it. This gives him healing and a Defence boost, but still nothing to worry about. Seize the throne to clear the chapter.
Part 2: New Characters: Freyr - (Black hair, silver armour) He joins you automatically at the start. A well rounded Cavalier who seems to excel in most stats above other Cavaliers. Abel - (Young, green hair and armour) He joins you automatically at the start. A well rounded Cavalier who excels in Strength.
First, move to the left. You can attack the closest enemy with your Cavaliers, who will finish him. A Fighter will attack you during your turn, and is fast enough not to be doubled. Team up on him to take him out. Move down the stairs, take out the Soldier, and bait the Archers on two separate turns with a Cavalier. If you do both at once you won't be able to finish them, as you can't double them. Get any unit to take out the unit on the goal and have Marth seize it.
Part 3: New Characters: Jeigan (Grey hair, purple armour) - He joins you automatically at the start. A Paladin. Do not let him kill any units. He starts out horrible and has even worse growths. Kain (Young, red hair and armour) - He joins you automatically at the start. A well rounded Cavalier who excels in HP and Luck.
Now we're outside. Jeigan doesn't really have any use here, so just give his equipment to someone else (you'll see why later). I'd suggest choose which of these Cavaliers you're going to use now, and leave the others behind (make sure to give all the Vulneraries to who you are using). This chapter is pretty straight forward, you just have to watch out for when you cross the second bridge, where several enemies ay gang up on you, and the Mages at the back. Seize the goal under the western Mage to clear the chapter.
Part 4: New Characters: Gordan (Young, green hair) - Talk to him with Marth, and give him the Iron bow a nearby enemy drops. Not exactly brilliant, but Archers in general are pretty bad. Norn (Young, pink hair) - Complete this chapter with 4 or less units and you can use her starting in Chapter 1. And Archer that's roughly on par with Gordan, but faster.
Villages (1) North - Vulnerary
Marth receives a Door Key from Morodof in the cutscene.Start by taking out the nearby enemies (there's a few, so don't charge forth too much) and make your way to the building. One of these enemies drops an Iron Bow for Gordon to use. Open the door and enter, but do not talk to Gordon yet (don't worry, he has no weapons to attack with).
First, you must decide which unit you will sacrifice (it's an event, you cannot avoid this). You cannot get them back using the Ohm staff. I strongly urge you to choose Jeigan, as he has no real use on Normal mode thanks to all the extra experience some of your characters get from the prologue. You must also decide now if you want Norn. If you do, the simplest way would be to send another character you aren't using over to the far left of the map. Take off all the items of the unit/s you chose to sacrifice (this isn't entirely necessary, as they end up in your convoy later anyway), and talk to Gordon. If you kill Gordon the sacrifice event will be skipped. A fort south of the building will be highlighted, which is where you need to move the unit to be sacrificed. Refrain from moving them on the fort until your other unit has been killed if you're trying to get Norn. When you do tell them to wait there, a cutscene will play showing the unit disguise themselves as Marth and distract your pursuers.
When that's finished, the door at the north end of the building will open. It's not the best idea to charge straight through, as up to three units could attack you. Pace a Cavalier or Marth in the door so you can get the first attack on most of them. Heal on the nearby forts if necessary. Two Pegasus Knights will come from forts across the water. Try to place your units so you get the jump on them. This is a good place to get Gordon an easy kill too. Have Marth visit the village and have a Cavalier take care of the first boss. Bring Marth up to seize the goal to complete the chapter. If you take too long taking out the boss two more Pegasus Knights will come from the forts.
Chapter 1 New Characters: Doga (Green hair, blue armour) - He joins you automatically at the start. A good all round Armour, with good defence due to his base. Low strength growth. Sheeda (Young, blue hair) - She joins you automatically at the start. Incredibly high Speed and Luck, and good Skill. Other stats are mediocre. Change her to Paladin after promotion so you don't ruin her speed. Riff (Old, bald) - Visit the western village to recruit. A Priest that's useful for that sole fact. He's a lot better than in the original, but still outstripped by other healers.
Villages (2) Eastern - 10000 Gold Western - Recruit Riff
Quite a straightforward chapter. Get Marth to visit the village for 10000 gold and take out the thief with two characters (give the kill to someone who'll need the exp. like Sheeda). Buy a few weapons, especially Javelins on harder difficulties. Advance slowly as to not provoke more enemies than those that will come anyway. Use the forts to heal before advancing. Watch out for the Hunter about halfway across the island (who will move after being provoked once) as it could take out Sheeda very easily. Doga is very effective on this chapter, as the enemies can barely touch him.
When you get to the far side put someone (probably Marth or a Cavalier) on the fort to defend against the last few Pirates. Don't forget to recruit Riff from the village, as he'll be your only healer for a few chapters, as well as having the only Heal staff until one chapter after that. Doga isn't very good against the boss. Let the boss attack Marth or a Cavalier, and then go for it with indirect attacks. Finish him with a low level unit to take advantage of the higher exp gain (Sheeda/Doga probably).
Chapter 2 New Characters: Oguma - He joins you automatically at the start. An all-rounder with decent growths everywhere, high HP and awesome bases. Barts - He joins you automatically at the start. Similar to Oguma, but with the inferior Fighter class. I'd suggest changing him to Hero after promotion. Saji - He joins you automatically at the start. A Fighter with high HP and Strength. Horrible Speed and worse bases than the other two Fighters. Maji - He joins you automatically at the start. A Fighter that's similar to Barts but with mediocre Skill and Defence. Can be a decent magic user. Daros - Talk to him with Marth and he will join you. This Pirate has low Skill and that and Speed don't really go up from there. Other stats are quite good though. He can talk to Marth, but don't do this as he will be badly injured or killed by the enemies behind him. Kashim - Talk to him with Sheeda and he will join you. A Hunter with really low HP and mediocre Luck, but his other stats are pretty good.
Villages (1) North Western - 5000 Gold
Start by moving characters that you aren't using into the corner. Move a decent sword user onto the top left bridge to take care of the nearby Pirate. Make sure you are not in range of Daros. He will talk to Marth if possible, but I don't recommend this as he'll take severe damage from the units piling up behind him on the first turn. I suggest you only use one or two of the new units that come with Oguma. On turn two talk to Daros with Marth to recruit him. Block the north bridge with a good unit, and be aware that the Pirates can go over the water a bit, so don't leave Riff too close (highlighting enemies here is useful). Be VERY careful of the Hunter as well, as in these close quarters you never know when they'll take a pot shot at Sheeda, so don't send her north. Marth and Sheeda can easily diptch the Cavaliers with their personal weapons, but your Cavaliers work good as well. Don't move too far forward or you could have a bunch of Pirates join in attacking the one guy. If you're using units you're not training as bait (since it actually benefits you because you can get the Gaden chapters), then place them on bridges, but remember Pirates can still go round them.
Kashim starts moving on turn six, or if you're in his range. It's fairly easy to get Sheeda to talk to him, but you must be wary of the group of enemies up the back all being able to attack her at once, since she isn't very durable at this point. Make sure to take out the other Hunter or she's toast. Use a reasonably durable unit to take on the last two Pirates near the boss, and don't forget to visit the village for 5000 gold, and visit the armoury if you want to (this is one of the few places to sell Hammers, by the way). Then move onto the boss, healing anyone who needs it with the nearby fort so you don't waste valuable Heal staff uses. The boss, Gomes, has a Hand Axe, so don't think you can get away with the last boss' tactic. Here you just have to switch out Marth, Oguma, a Cavalier or perhaps a Fighter to wear him down. A Bow user or Sheeda can get the kill since they probably need it the most. The boss drops a Steel Sword, which should probably go to Marth.
Chapter 3 New Characters: Julian - He joins you automatically at the start. He's a Thief, so don't expect anything amazing, but he has high offence if he's trained. Just don't leave him in the open. Clearly the best Thief. Rena - She joins you automatically at the start. A Sister who's not very offensive and has horrible HP, but high Luck and Resistance. Change to Sage after promotion for better bases. Navarre - Talk to him with Sheeda and he will join you. High HP and better Skill and Speed than the other Myrmidons.
Villages (1) Southern - Devil Axe
First, before you forget, move Julian and Rena as far down as posible. It doesn't matter which one gets the furthest space. Split the rest of your group into two. Send two or three each way (Sheeda MUST go north if you want Navarre and his Killing Edge, I suggest Marth goes east to save time later), giving the left group priority for who will kill the boss. Highlight Navarre, a Myrmidon north of where you start, since you certainly don't want to be in there. Don't rush too far east with that group, since you don't want to provoke all the enemies that way to charge you (they will do that if you move very far that way, the limit is around the village). Wth the North group, send Sheeda onto the Mountains, but be careful of the Hunter on the other side (he won't move unless someone is in range). On your second turn fortify your position in the North, just outside Navarre's range. The eastern group should be fine, don't be afraid to use units you're not using to weaken or distract the enemies. It's a very open area so if you have Riff or the Archers around make sure to protect them carefully.
On turn three recruit Navarre with Sheeda (make sure you're out of range of the Hunter), and block the two remaining spaces preferably with competent sword users (axe users will do, but not Sheeda). The Fighters there will probably just bounce themselves off those two, and on the harder modes they can't gang up because you won't kill them in one turn (in which case an Archer is useful). The Hunters in the eastern area would have probably started moving by now (it's better than have them ambush the first unit to go through the chokepoint). They're easy to take out. From the top group, have Sheeda cut across the mountains (taking out the Hunter with the Wing Spear is a good option) and have a sword user go through the north valley. Send everyone else to follow the east group. Don't forget to visit the village for the Devil Axe.
As your swordsman approaches from the north have him stay in the valley, and let the Fighters come to him. Having both gang up on him could end up nasty. Heal your eastern units on the fort and approach the boss. The switching in and out all your good sword fighters here works well, and on easy you may be able to take him in one turn (the boss is fast so even Navarre could have trouble doubling if he hasn't leveled up a few times. Also on easy Julian can hurt him, so if you want him to get some expeience to get him up to scratch (it's worth it if you do) then let him finish the boss. The boss drops Rena's stolen Mend staff, which you don't want to abuse too much, unless you've used the Heal instead of forts too much in which case it's your only option.
Chapter 4 New Characters: Marich - Visit the south-western village to recruit him. A powerful all-round Mage, and the only one that even has a chance to grow Defence. He can also use Excalibur at any weapon rank. Machis - Talk with Rena to recruit him. A slightly tank-ish Cavalier that is probably outclassed by the others.
Villages (2) South-eastern - Recruit Maric North-eastern - 5000 Gold
You now have your first access to the battle preparations menu. If you have less than the mazimum units available left then you will receive generic replacements, who are based off your entire team's strength and have random classes. You also now have access to the Armoury, so you can forge items (this is incredibly expensive however) and buy Heal and Fire well before they show up in shops on the map. Be sure to by a few Heal staves. You also have access to the class swap. If it's your first playthrough I'd suggest leaving it for now, except for a few changes later due to caps (Dragon Knight's low speed cap doesn't suit Pegasus Knights very much). If you want to change someone like Maji to a magic unit do so now, or if you get them later do so as soon as posible to get their Magic growth as high as posible. Don't forget to reequip a unit who has a different weapon to before.
Choose two or three units and send them north to meet the Fighters there. Marth is useful here, and a healer may be useful as well. Get everyone else, including Rena, lined up just past where you can go north. The Fighters should be no problem, unless you kill them all and they all get to attack the one person. Try and let the moving Cavaliers get into a position where you can get the first strike, particuarly so Rena can talk to Machis. These Cavaliers have decent defences, so Julian and low Strength troops aren't too good here. If Marth came back quick enough from the Fighters then his Rapier helps a lot here, and so does Sheeda's Wing Spear if you're using her.
Try not to atract the attention of the Horsemen near the boss when you approach the bridge. The Armour won't move, but the Archers will. Try and take out all three before letting the Horsemen attack. Don't forget to recruit Marich from the village here. When the Horsemen do attack, surround them so they can't do much back with their Bows. hey have good stats so this helps a lot. Visit the north village with Marth for another 5000 gold, and take out the healer. Do not send a mounted unit to attack here, as the boss has a Knight Killer. On the otehr hand, this means he has no projectile attack, and attacking from range means you get that Knight Killer in prime condition (since enemy's weapons don't restore their durability when you get them). If you changed anyone into a magic user this is a great time to get an easy kill for them. If you want you can try the arena, but prefer to use later ones, if any at all. You could just send your Cavalier over there for a round while you take out the boss.
Chapter 5 New Characters: Hardain - He joins you automatically at the start, on the left-hand side of the map. A Cavalier with good bases and high Skill/Speed, but sub-par HP. Roshe - He joins you automatically at the start, on the left-hand side of the map. Horrible Speed and Luck ruin what would be otherwise a good Cavalier. Villuck - He joins you automatically at the start, on the left-hand side of the map. I honestly don't know what this Cavalier is supposed to do well. He has a decent Speed growth, but that's it. Wolf - He joins you automatically at the start, on the left-hand side of the map. A low base Horseman that looks worse than Jeigan at first glance, but has by far the best growths in the game. I prefer him over Zagaro. His pre-promotion helps save Master Seals without sacrificing stats like other pre-promos. Zagaro - He joins you automatically at the start, on the left-hand side of the map. A low base Horseman that looks worse than Jeigan at first glance, but has by far the best growths in the game. I prefer Wolf over this guy. His pre-promotion helps save Master Seals without sacrificing stats like other pre-promos. Wendel - Talk to him with Marth or Marich to recruit. A Sage whose growths are all sub par except for his average Luck, but he comes with high weapon levels for utility.
Villages (1) North-eastern - Fire Dragonstone
On your first turn charge over the bridge and put a capable fighting unit in range of the closest Cavalier. Decide now if you want to use anyone from Hardain's group. If not, send them into the bottom right corner of their area to avoid attracting attention to them.
Chapter 6 New Characters: Ricardo - Talk to him with Marth or Julian. A Thief that's certainly not as bad as he used to be, but he's still outclassed entirely by Julian.
Chapter 6x Unlock this chapter by having fewer than 15 units with portraits. New Characters: Athena - Visit the village on the west side of the map. A decent Myrmidon, but is outclassed by Navarre. Her Strength and Defence are pretty bad.
Chapter 7 New Characters: Banetou - Visit the village enclosed by a wall and mountains to recruit. Do not try to train this Mamkute, he more or less has no growths. He is good for weakening strong enemies however, as one attack almost kills a lot of enemies and he won't double. You need this person to recruit Chiki later.
Chapter 8 New Characters: Caesar - He joins you automatically at the start, south-east of where your other units are. He's a decent Mercenary who has the potential to be a magic user. Raddy - He joins you automatically at the start, south-east of where your other units are. An underleveled Myrmidon that beats the others in Strength and Defence growths. He's incredibly hard to train on Hard mode however. Roger - Talk to him with Sheeda to recruit him. A good Armour that has especially high Strength and incredibly high Luck.
Chapter 9 New Characters: George - Visit the north-eastern village to recruit him. A Sniper with decent Skill and Speed, but his other growths and his bases are so horrible he's almost useless. A victim of higher-cap syndrome.
Chapter 10 New Characters: Maria - Talk to her with Marth to recruit. A Sister who is slightly better than Rena, except she's underleveled, although that's not a problem for Sisters in this game. New Characters: Minerva - Recruit Maria, then let her talk to Marth. A Dragon Knight with decent growths except in HP, which even starts low. Her terrible bases make her a victim of higher-cap syndrome.
Chapter 11 New Characters: Linda - Visit the South-eastern village to recruit her. An incredibly powerful Mage, who leaves everyone else's Magic stat in her dust. Mediocre HP and Resistance, but her offensive stats more than make up for it. She can even use Aura at any weapon rank. Jake - Visit Anna's house by the lake in the south-eastern area, then talk to him with Sheeda. I prefer him over the other Shooter, but he's less durable.
Chapter 12 New Characters: Midia - She joins you automatically at the start, in the cell in the north-western corner. A decent Paladin with terrible Luck and Defence. You need her to recruit Astria. Thomas - He joins you automatically at the start, in the cell in the north-western corner. An Archer with good Speed, but pretty bad in other areas. Tomth - He joins you automatically at the start, in the cell in the north-western corner. An Armour with the highest Defence growth in the game apart from the Horsemen, he has good stats all round except for his mediocre Strength and non-exsitant Luck. Mishelan - He joins you automatically at the start, in the cell in the north-western corner. This Armour has nothing on Tomth, except he has a mediocre Luck stat. Boa - He joins you automatically at the start, in the cell in the north-western corner. What does this Bishop do? He uses Reserve staves when you've got no other healers left, and nothing else.
Chapter 12x Unlock this chapter by having fewer than 15 units with portraits. New Characters: Horus - Finish the chapter without killing him and he will join you starting in the next battle preparations. An underpowered General who has no stand out stats.
Chapter 13 New Characters: Astria - Talk to him with Midia. A powerful Hero held back by his sub-par bases, and is pretty bad in Speed and Defence. He comes with very good equipment. New Characters: Beck - Visit the central village to recruit him. I prefer Jake over him, but he is more durable. He comes with the extremely useful Thunderbolt firearm.
Chapter 14 New Characters: Paola - Let her talk to Marth when she appears from the western side of the map. High Strength and Skill, but her other stats are sub-par. Make sure Marth isn't near the Longbow Archers, as this could get her killed right after she joins you. Katua - Let her talk to Marth when she appears from the western side of the map. An all round good Pegasus, but inferior to Sheeda in Speed and Luck. Incredibly high Skill. Make sure Marth isn't near the Longbow Archers, as this could get her killed right after she joins you.
Chapter 15 No New Characters
Chapter 16 New Characters: Alan - Visit the eastern village, but this will stop you visiting the other. A Paladin with low HP and Defence, but his other growths are good. He's let down by bad bases. I prefer him over Samson. A victim of higher-cap syndrome. Samson - Visit the western village, but this will stop you visiting the other. A Hero with decent HP and Luck, but that's about all he has. Very poor bases. I prefer Alan over this guy. A victim of higher-cap syndrome Chainy - Let him talk to Marth. A character with the unique class Commando. This lets him copy another unit in all but name. experience and inventory for roughly five turns. When he levels up it affects his untransformed stats. Having to plan his inventory based on what he'll transform into and his extremely fragile untransformed state (which can happen at inconvenient times) make him more trouble than he's worth.
Chapter 17 No New Characters
Chapter 17x Unlock this chapter by having fewer than 15 units with portraits. New Characters: Etzel - Finish the chapter without killing him and he will join you starting in the next battle preparations. A Druid with low bases and very low HP and Luck, but his other growths are decent.
Chapter 18 New Characters: Est - Let her talk to Marth when she appears from the western side of the map. A Pegasus Knight who is extremely underleveled, but at the same time has good growths in all areas except HP and Defence.
Chapter 19 New Characters: Chiki - Talk to her with Banetou. A Divine Dragon who is incredibly powerful, her Divine Dragonstone attack has an effective bonus on all Dragons, including Medeus. She won't grow much Defence, but otherwise her growths are very high.
Chapter 20 New Characters: Lawrence - Talk to him with Sheeda to recruit. A General who has mediocre bases, but his growths are actually quite good, as well as high weapons levels in both weapons he can use. Terrible Speed however.
Chapter 20x Unlock this chapter by having fewer than 15 units with portraits. New Characters: Hymir - Talk to him with Marth, he will then leave the map. He will join you in the next chapter's battle preparations. A Warrior with high Strength and HP, but doesn't quite cut it compared to other axe users. He comes with a Devil Axe that puts his attack power through the roof, but don't use it as he has VERY bad Luck.
Chapter 21 No New Characters
Chapter 22 No New Characters
Chapter 23 No New Characters
Chapter 24 New Characters: Ellis - She will join you automatically at the start of the chapter. Way too underleveled to use on the front line, but has an A in staves and very good growths.
Chapter 24x Unlock this chapter by not possessing the Falchion or Chiki at the end of Chapter 24. New Characters: !Nagi - She will join you after you start the Final Chapter, and prevents you from recruiting Gato. A Divine Dragon with identical growths to Chiki, but would likely have higher HP and starts at a level suitable for the final chapter. She comes with another Divine Dragonstone.
2.30 - Final New Characters: Gato - He will join you automatically at the start of the chapter, but he will not join you if you got Nagi. A Sage who can't level up much, but he has some good growths if he does. He comes with VERY good equipment, including the only Worm tome you can obtain.
